Big brands are once again taking esports to new heights and we’re all itching to know how everything will turn out! Globe and Mineski has partnered together to birth Liyab – a professional esports team that will focus on League of Legends, Hearthstone, and Arena of Valor (AoV).
Announced early February, the telco & esports companies will work together to support Liyab as they compete in tournaments of their respective games. The biggest highlight is preparing for the upcoming 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA) which will now feature esports titles such as DotA 2, Starcraft II, Arena of Valor, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and Tekken 7.
Liyab will be the symbol of the country’s burning passion and pride in global esports events,” Globe CEO & President Ernest Cu said. “Liyab, which translates to ‘Blaze,’ represents the team’s intense passion and focus in the realm of esports.
“With the proper management system, we strongly believe we can overcome the hurdles and set an example for many to follow suit as well so to make each country competitive with each game and also topromote a stronger region overall,” said Mineski CEO and President Ronald Robins.
Team Liyab is currently composed of the country’s most promising gamers with members holding accomplishments in different tournaments around Southeast Asia. Mineski will take part in the project as the team’s esports talent development gurus – helping shape the future and environment of the local esports culture in the Philippines.
