Fluffy Day at Velvet Friends Cat Cafe

I’m a huge animal lover and I think it’s because we’ve always had one dog at home while I was growing up. Now I have a kitty named Lulu and a hamster named Poogie (LOL). And yet I found myself interested in the animal cafe trend that has hit Metro Manila.

Because I was in the area, I decided to drop by Velvet Friends Cat Cafe, a chill feline-filled meeting place located in Blue Baywalk.

What I like the most about Velvet Friends is how cute and cozy the place is. The entrance fee costs Php290 per person and it comes with a free drink!

I got a Caramel Milkshake and it was YUMMY! I think they have your other favorite flavors, too, like Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry.

We went during a Saturday so the place was pretty packed (you can tell by the pictures) and most of the cats were asleep or already occupied with another hoomin. Haha!

The area is actually very cat-oriented. Having a cat of my own, I know that they love places that they can climb, hide, and nap in.

You’re allowed to pet, touch, hold, and pick the cats up. But you’re highly discouraged to disturb them when they’re sleeping.

Also, there are cat toys everywhere so you’re free to play with them!

Everyone has to wear socks when inside the cat cafe, so before you go be sure you’re wearing some socks or you’ll have to purchase a pair from the staff. 🙂

Velvet Friends Cat Cafe currently has 20 cats. Most of them were running around or asleep when we visited except for two. The man in charge said that they bring them back to the inner room (which is off-limits) when they get too rowdy or stressed with people. I think that’s good because cats are fickle creatures and moody, too! I’m glad that they care for their cats that much, at least.

Anyway, on to photos of fluffballs! They have so many breeds that people like me only dream of having! 🙂

This is a Flatnose Shorthair:IMG_7936

And an American Bobtail: (He was the only one I got a decent photo of!)

They also have Sphinxes and British Longhairs. 🙂 Seeing different breeds and interacting with cats other than your own was a really fun experience. So do check it out when you do have the time, you really won’t regret going.

One of the staff members told me that the best time to go is during the weekdays at around 3PM. But it’s also good to go around 8PM since those are their feeding times. I guess you’ll see them more awake and active because of the nomnoms. HAHA!

The Velvet Friends Cat Cafe is located at the 2nd flr. of Cluster H, Blue Bay Walk, Metropark, Pasay City.
