OMGluie Beauty Review: ColourPop Spring 2017 Haul

It’s really a bit too late for a Spring haul coz summer in the PH is already ending, haha! Nevertheless, I just wanted to share with you guys swatches and mini-reviews of the lip products from my recent ColourPop haul!

I think it was mid-April when ColourPop decided to have a 20% off sitewide sale. Being the hoarder and forever makeup addict that I am, I decided to take advantage of it and bought eight, EIGHT!!!!, lip products from their Spring 2017 Collection and their latest Blotted Lip and Ultra Blotted Lip line. Some of the products I really, really love but some left much to be desired in terms of quality!

I bought five items from their newest line of lip products. Three (3) Blotted Lips and two (3) Ultra Blotted Lips. Let’s start with the Blotted Lips! šŸ™‚

As you can notice, they are still packaged in the standard white ColourPop box albeit noticeably shorter than the typical ColourPop products. They are labeled as “weightless, diffused, and natural”. They’re supposed to have a sheer-er finish with the promise of looking more like a lip stain than a lip stick.

The product is housed in a white tube that is similar to the ColourPop Lippie Stix, with the foil brand name stamping, but in a matte finish! šŸ™‚Ā I purchased the three following shades, from left to right: Lolly, Drip, and Candyfloss.

From L-R: Lolly, Candyfloss, and Drip. Swatches on the left are 1-2 swipes, while those on the right are 3-4 swipes.

ColourPop Blotted Lip in Lolly ($5.00): “Deep Plum”

I was very, very excited for this one! Though it’s labeled as a deep plum color, it is a bit more bright berry-looking on my lips, LOL. In terms of application, this did not glide on a smooth as I hoped it would but it does last very long. AND IT LEAVES A STAIN, so makeup remover, preferably oil-based, will help a LOT!

ColourPop Blotted Lip in Drip ($5.00): “Warm Rosey Mauve”

Ahhhh! This is probably my favorite from the three! It’s MLBB! I like how it applies. It’s feminine and subtle, quite different from what I am used to but it’s good for the days when I don’t want to intimidate people, I guess, LOL!

ColourPop Blotted Lip in Candyfloss ($5.00): “Warm Terracotta”

I had initially hoped that this would beĀ neutral nude but it turned out bright orange on my lips. It’s not too bad and application isn’t patchy. I’m a little MEH on the color but I think it’s also good for everyday wear when I don’t want people to freak out when they see me. :))

I also bought two (2) items from their Ultra Blotted Lip line. These are labeled “lightweight, transfer-proof, and matte”. From top to bottom, in Cherry on Top and Zuma:

The swatches in the middle indicate where I’ve applied 2-3 layers of the product.

ColourPop Ultra Blotted Lip in Cherry on Top ($6.00): “Deep Plum”

Ugh. This was another major disappointment, guys! You all know how I love my dark colors but the formula of this product really, really sucked! It dried looking horribly wrong and no matter how many swipes I did, there was always that dark outline of product on my lips! Not happy with this at all. šŸ™

ColourPop Ultra Blotted Lip in ZumaĀ ($6.00): “Warm Rosey Mauve”

This was ok I think. I like how it applies but as I’ve learned, anything matte that ColourPop makes doesn’t mesh well with my dry lips, no matter what they say about how hydrating the formula is. šŸ™ I do like the color though! In terms of wear, this isn’t as long-lasting as Cherry on Top.

Overall, I’m quite disappointed in ColourPop’s Blotted Lip and Ultra Blotted Lip lines. I had such high hopes for them because they were being raved about all over YouTube, huhu.

BUT there IS a silver lining because I also purchased a couple of Ultra Satin Lip products. If there’s a formula from ColourPop that I have tried and tested, it’s their Ultra Satin Lips and I. AM. IN. LOVE. WITH. THEM. HAHA!

I got three (3) shades, from top to bottom: Strip, Strut, and Mess Around.

L-R: Mess Around, Strut, and Strip

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip in StripĀ ($6.00): “Warm Beige”

HAHA. I kinda overdid my lips in this swatch but that color is <3. In other lighting spaces, it’s still a tad orangeĀ but it’s a nice, Kardashian kind of nude that’s perfect to pair with dark eyes, imho.

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip in Strut ($6.00): “Cool-Toned Taupe”

OMG. This product is one of my faves in this haul! UGH. This old rose color is muted enough to look a little dark and vampy on my lips without being completely feminine! It’s perfect for me! Total rave, guys! OMG!

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip in Mess Around ($6.00): “Mid-Tone Greige”

Y’all know that I love dark lip colors. Although I was expecting something a little more grey, this is definitely another favorite!

On me, Mess Around looks like melted milk chocolate and it is sublime! This is the only Ultra Satin Lip product that I bought that wasn’t part of the ColourPop Spring 2017 collection.

And that is thaaaat. Lesson learned, stick to what works for you. Though I love trying out new products, it really does put a dent on my wallet, even with the sale and all. What did you guys think? Have you tried any of these products out? Any faves? I’d love to know! šŸ™‚
