My first makeup review in a long, long, long while! I apologize for the crappy photos of my crappy face (what you see is what you get, really) but I’m taking another shot at beauty reviews starting with the very popular Innisfree Long Wear Cushion (with My Cushion Case)!
The idea of the cushion foundation has been circulating around the beauty/makeup world for the longest time. And a few popular ones have been popping up from Asian brands (such as Laneige, Aprilskin, etc.) that popular Western brands (such as Maybelline, Bobbi Brown, etc.) are also giving the cushion foundation concept a whirl too.
But why choose Innisfree over any other? I’ve never tried any cushion foundations before (except for Shu Uemura’s) and I wanted to see what all the hype was about. It was either this or Aprilskin but I felt like the Innisfree Long Wear Cushion Foundation would fit more for my personal taste in makeup, which is a natural looking base combined with dramatic eyeliner or lips, LOL.
Anyway. First, let’s talk about the cushion case and the accessories that you can purchase along with it! One thing I love about Innisfree’s My Cushion system is that you get to choose the design of your own case!
Naturally, I veered towards the grey lavender one with silver accents, LOL. The case comes with a mirror (so you can apply/re-apply when you’re on the go).
You also get to choose the type of puff you want to use. This is the Air Magic Puff in Fitting. It’s supposed to give a matte finish as compared to the other one which is supposed to give you a dewy glow.
Then, of course, the foundation itself, the Innisfree Long Wear Cushion in N23 True Beige.
What it is

How to use

Reapply by gently patting whenever desired.

The product itself looks pretty thick and heavy. A little press to the cushion and a lot of product will already stick to your fingers or application tool, so be sure to apply pressure lightly.
Anyway, here are the before and after photos! Again, I apologize for the crappy photos, I took this around 4PM inside my room so there are a lot of shadows and whatnot. Also I turned off the “smoothing” option of my camera so you guys can see things raw and unfiltered. LOL.
Obviously, to the left is my bare face. And to the right is my face with the product applied. The foundation does cover a bit of the imperfections (especially the red veins around my nose area) without having that dry, cake-y, and overdone finish.
And here is my normal makeup face, haha! My face has become a little more matte and less shiny than when I first applied the product.
Here’s my verdict:
Application: It’s pretty basic to apply the product, LOL. However it is a challenge to use the puff in the crooks and crannies of your face. I haven’t tried using anything else for this. Too lazy. Will try a Beauty Blender Soon.
Coverage: Light to medium. Coverage can be built but be wary of the easily buildable thickness of the product.
Staying Power: Ahh. I can’t really say. I’d give it a good 5-6 hours before you need to blot/touch up. Since my face is highly acidic, this does oxidize on me after a couple of hours (especially when I sweat).
Price: RM 94 or Php 1,064. The cushion case costs RM 33 (Php 374), foundation costs RM 52 (Php 589), and the puff costs RM 9 (Php 102).
Would I buy it again? Well, maybe not now. I’ve only just begun experimenting with all the available cushion foundations out there. I’d like to try out 3 or 4 more products before deciding if this one is a product that I really, truly love. 🙂 Of course, big big thanks to my friend Nadia <3 (who also uses Innisfree, btw) for offering to buy this for me in Malaysia! Whee!
You can check out Innisfree at their website. Not sure if they ship to the Philippines yet but there are other sites that you can get the product from. 🙂
