It’s been 3 years since I unboxed the Persona 5 Take Your Heart Premium Edition for the PS4 and now I’m back with another one, this time taking apart the Persona 5 Royal Phantom Thieves Edition, also for the Playstation 4!
Just a little back story on getting this CE, I originally pre-ordered it from Amazon. But welp, the pandemic happened and everything in California shut down – including my PO Box shipping service! So, if Amazon shipped to my PO Box address, it would get stuck there, with no way home. So I found a local Philippine solution, Pax-Corp Games, who still had remaining slots for the collector’s edition, haha! Anyway, on to the actual unboxing!
P5R Phantom Thieves Edition – Box Details
Like the P5 Take Your Heart Premium Edition, this one also comes with a thin cardboard protective case that you can slip right up to uncover the box. It’s shorter in length than the previous CE but is thicker in width.
The front of the main box has the Phantom Thieves in a shattered glass design but this time, Kasumi (the new character) and Akechi are included in the list of characters. The bottom of the box (shown on the left side of the above photo) has all of the Confidant tarot cards in the famous red & black color scheme. Pretty dope, IMHO. XD
P5R Phantom Thieves Edition – Inclusions
The Phantom Thieves edition comes with a couple of items but a lot less than the Take Your Heart Premium Edition. The previous CE had the Shujin school bag and Morgana plushie alongside the rest of whatever the P5R CE gives you. Here’s the complete list:
- PS4 Physical CD with Steelbook Case (Comes with Dynamic Theme)
- Physical Art Book
- Official Game Soundtrack
- Physical Display of Joker’s Mask
P5R Phantom Thieves Edition – PS4 CD With Steelbook Case
Same with the previous CE, this Steelbook Case also comes with a plastic protective case that you can slip off. The case has a slight metallic sheen. The front part features Joker, haha, everyone’s favorite Phantom Thief, while the back portion features the rest of the gang with the addition of Kasumi & Akechi once again.
Inside you’ll find the physical disc with all that glitz and glamor in its design. But you’ll also get a shiny golden card of Joker plus a code to a PS4 dynamic theme. I don’t think the P5 CE had the dynamic theme included, so that’s a great bonus for this edition. XD
P5R Phantom Thieves Edition – Art Book & OST
The art book and soundtrack packaging isn’t that different from the previous edition. It’s just been re-branded to focus on Kasumi and the new key visuals of Persona 5 Royal. The artbook contains designs of new characters plus the new 3rd-level Personas of previous characters. 🙂
The OST gives you 10 new tracks featured in the game. I’m looking forward to listening for them when I play. … Which is… IDK when I find the time, LOLOLOL.
P5R Phantom Thieves Edition – Physical Display Of Joker’s Mask
I think the major highlight of this CE for me is Joker’s Mask! I’m not sure what it’s made of but it’s definitely not cheap, flimsy material. The mask is actually pretty weighty and it comes with a ribbon so you can try and wear it. LOL. … I honestly wouldn’t recommend it though due to the weight of the mask, HAHA!
And that’s it for all the items you’ll get from the Persona 5 Royal Phantom Thieves Edition! I took some photos to compare some features of the P5 CE with the P5R one so check them out below. 🙂
P5R Phantom Thieves Edition Vs. P5 Take Your Heart Premium Edition
As I mentioned above, the P5R CE is shorter then the previous CE but it’s definitely thicker. This is due to the partitions inside the box to house each item properly. 🙂 The boxes are also displayed differently, with the P5 one more geared towards horizontal while the P5R CE should be displayed vertically.
Both artbooks are the same size and have the same number of pages, if I recall correctly. Their cover artworks are different from each other with the P5R artbook cover art featuring Cendrillon, Kasumi’s starting Persona.
And here, side by side, you can see the two different designs of the Steelbook cases! To be honest, I prefer the Persona 5 steelbook compared to the Persona 5 Royal one just because I’m more biased towards the black, red, and white color scheme. But you know, it’s all just a matter of preference, HAHA!
Anyway, that’s the official OMGluie unboxing of the Persona 5 Royal Phantom Thieves Edition! I got this for Php 7,200 from Pax-Corp Games, a bit pricey I know but it was the best option to get the item to me.
To be honest, the entire collection felt a little underwhelming compared to when I first unboxed the previous CE. Maybe it’s because I wasn’t hoping for a 2nd version of the game, haha! But if you’re a diehard fan of Persona 5 and the Persona series, it’s a nice little addition to your collection. XD
