ASUS ROG STRIX GL12CX – Unboxing & First Impressions

Not gonna lie, I didn’t know how I was gonna do it when ASUS ROG Philippines said they wanted me to unbox one of their most powerful desktop units – the ASUS ROG STRIX GL12CX. But I did and here it is! The OMGluie ASUS ROG STRIX GL12CX Unboxing & First Impressions! XD

ASUS ROG STRIX GL12CX Specs & Pricing

On paper, the GL12CX sounds like a major beast. It has top of the line hardware that’s fresh from the tech market. The model that ASUS ROG sent over to me was the GL12CX-PH004T which comes with the following specs:

  1. Intel Core i9-9900K
  2. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 8G
  3. DDR4 2666 32GB RAM
  4. 1TB HDD 7200RPM + 512G PCIE NVMe
  5. Custom Cooler Master MasterLiquid Pro 120
  6. Windows 10

I’m not an expert but looking at the specs indicated above tells you just how powerful this unit is… And just how much it’s worth. HAHA!

Before we get into the nitty-gritty, the ASUS ROG STRIX GL12CX-PH004T is currently priced at PHP 199,995.00.

ASUS ROG STRIX GL12CX Features

Sleek & Compact Design

The desktop unit comes in a sleek, compact design that looks simple & utilitarian on the outside. Standing with dimensions of 17.90 (W) x 40.00 (D) x 45.60 (H) cm, it’s perfect to fit in a limited space without compromising gaming quality.

The best part about this computer? All you need to do is plug it in and turn it on because everything’s set & ready to go. Talk about power at the tip of your fingers, LOL!

Convenient Front Panel With SSD Hot-Swap Bay

One of my favorite parts of the GL12CX is how convenient its front panel is! It comes with 4 USB slots (2 3.1 & 2 2.0 types), a Card Reader (like, it’s been a while since I saw something like this!), and a socket for your headset. But what really takes the cake is the SSD Hot-Swap Bay!

With this feature, you’re able to swap different SSDs in a simple and easy manner! This make it so convenient to boot up games, documents, and other things, without the need to download massive amounts of data.

IDK about you but anything that makes life more convenient for me, especially when it comes to computer stuff, is wholeheartedly a plus, HAHA!

Custom Liquid Cooling

Every time someone mentions liquid cooling, a shiver runs down my spine. So when I read (and saw!) that the GL12CX comes with its own custom liquid cooling system… well, you can just imagine how excited I felt.

The Cooler Master MasterLiquid Pro 120 is close-looped and comes already attached to the processor. It’s also proudly emblazoned with the ROG brand logo, for bragging rights, of course! XD

Let’s Not Forget The RGB

No powerhouse of a desktop will be complete without its RGB capabilities. And still sticking to that sleek overall design, the GL12CX has RGB lights by its front panel…

and inside the frame itself.

What I like is how subtle the RGB is in this unit. I mean, if you want to humble-brag, this is definitely the desktop you should do it with, HAHAHA!

ASUS ROG STRIX GL12CX First Impressions

I’m not gonna bore you with benchmarks and numbers because that’s not what I’m about. I look at this computer and ultimately, like what I see, both in design & hardware, haha!

In terms of performance, it did not disappoint! It booted up fast and played games like a dream. But of course, this is a fresh unit with almost no wear & tear, so do set your expectations. 🙂

We tested out the benchmarks of Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers…

Played a few minutes of No Man’s Sky (ON EFFIN’ ULTRA GRAPHICS)…

And of course, completed an Elder Dragon quest on Monster Hunter World!

The PC wasn’t loud (which is a plus for me!), thanks to the built-in cooling system, but it would definitely flare up a few times before quieting itself down.

If you’re not a PC builder, want something off the market that’s “Ready-To-Play” (LOL, it’s Ready-To-Wear in fashion), and have tons of cash to spare, I’d say you won’t go wrong with this one. 🙂

Again, thanks to ASUS ROG Philippines for letting me unbox your beastly GL12CX! I wish so much to keep it, HAHAHA!
