It’s been a while since my last update. I’ve been more active on my Facebook and Twitter accounts, so if you want to see what’s up, you can find me more often there. HAHA! Anyway! AsiaPOP Comicon happened last weekend and though I only went during the 2nd day, I had a blast!
APCC is really one of my most favorite conventions in the PH (next to ESGS and maybe Toycon, LOL)! This year, they brought in a lot of celebrity guests, comic book artists, and big exhibitors!
The Netflix booth took up much more space this year!
They were really amping up the hype for Iron Fist Season 2, Riverdale, and some other series that I am not familiar with. I don’t really watch current Netflix shows, HAHA!
Some of the sights we see every year were also there like the TokiDoki booth. I know Simone Legno does a signing in APCC every single time! 🙂
But new booths like Marvel and Carousell were pretty cool to see. If you line up, you get freebies like ecobags and fandom-themed merch!
We also saw a lot more comic book artists come to the Philippines! Phil Noto and Mike Mckenzie were some of the new ones who visited! I even got my X-Men comic book (given to me by my fellow X-men fan friend, Peppy) signed by Phil Noto for free!
Naturally, the first thing I did this year was make a beeline for Artgerm’s booth! I bought 3 (!!!!) prints and had my comic book covers signed!
There were some cool toys in display though, but not a lot! And the artist alleys were chock-full of people, I wish I had photos to show you, haha!
The highlight of my day, though, was when during the meet & greet of APCC’s biggest celebrity guests – Tye Sheridan and Finn Jones!
Tye Sheridan was interesting to watch. Though he doesn’t give the impression of being too much of a geek, he has passion for the film industry and looks forward to working with directors like Chris Nolan, etc.!
Finn Jones was the best! You can tell he’s used to all this comic con business! He had all the right answers and was quite lovable. He even said he was a big fan of Studio Ghibli films (a big aww from me, really) and loved Ponyo On The Cliff By The Sea (one of my favorites, too!)
I think the one thing APCC lacked this year was catering to the gaming fans. At least last year, they had Gaku Space from Blizzard’s Overwatch, haha!
Nevertheless, I had so much fun – I met up with a lot of friends from the media industry, and the cosplay, geek, & gaming communities! I hope APCC 2019 is bigger and better! 🙂
