It’s been a little bit over a week since AsiaPOP Comicon and I’m still in a convention high! I have a few favorite moments and event highlights that I want to share, so do read on to learn more about my #APCCPH2017 experience! 🙂
There’s such a thing as a convention hangover. When I was younger, I always ended up being depressed after attending a convention. Growing up with a traditional family, new and different things (especially anime, video games, and cosplay) weren’t really considered appropriate.
Conventions were the place that I felt like I could most be myself, really. I found a group of friends who were into the same hobbies and interests and from then on, my geek interests continued to grow! So, I guess, the entire anime/video game/cosplay thing isn’t something I could get over, no matter what. HAHAHA.
1. Getting ArtGerm prints
Like, holy hell guys, I’ve been following this guy’s work for YEARS. And to see him up close and personal, to buy prints from his booth, TO HAVE A PHOTO TAKEN WITH HIM??!! LIKE OMG. I was spazzing so much, I ended up making a fool of myself. HAHA.
The prints were pretty cool, okay, and they were AFFORDABLE, too, at Php 500 per print. HAHA! Now, I only need to find a budget (and space!!!) so I can frame and put these bad boys up! :))
This post wouldn’t be complete without cosplay! Though I was at the con for three whole days, I only cosplayed during Day 2 and 3.
Day 2 was all about being a Disney Princess! And my favorite is Ariel from The Little Mermaid! It was extremely fun to dress up as her. I even did an entire role-playing thing by pretending I couldn’t talk, or whatever, LOLOLOL.
Day 3 was all about Marvel! I dug deep into my closet and pulled out my Jean Grey “Phoenix” outfit but alas, it’s not fraying at the seams. Though it still looked good on camera, the suit kind of shrunk and was faded in places.
Thank you to Nix De Pano for the photos below, by the way, they are gorj!! <3
I didn’t expect that I would still be actively cosplaying up to now. I thought that I had put that part of my life when I started focusing my life on work the past few years. But I think if there is something that you really love, you will eventually find your way back to it. 🙂
3. Shoji Kawamori signing my Macross Frontier Sheryl Nome figure
So. Getting to talk to Shoji Kawamori, one of the greatest minds behind the Macross series, and having him sign a piece of my Sheryl Nome collection was surreal. I have no words. :))
There were a lot more memorable moments during the con! We checked out the awesome, awesome Netflix Booth that transported you to worlds you can only see on-screen, the many cosplayers, artists, and international guests (we were able to catch snippets of Gaku Space‘s Panel Talk) but I think it’s better to see me spazzing out in action, HAHA!
Here’s a short aftermath video!
I always feel warm and accomplished after going through fun conventions like APCC. More than that, it’s meeting up with good friends, hanging out with NEW ones, and of course, chilling with those who love the same things you do, that make everything so much more worthwhile. Heehee~
