For those who have been following the local esports scene, you’ll be glad to know that the Philippine Esports Organization (PeSO) has recently celebrated its 2023 achievements.
With successful esports campaigns through Team Sibol, the organization is looking forward to a very fruitful 2024 as well.
PESO’s 2023 Triumphs and Milestones
Emerging victorious at the Southeast Asian Games in May 2023, Team Sibol won six medals, two gold, one silver, and three bronzes. The team also secured medals in every esports title during the event. During the International Esports Federation (IESF) 2023, Sibol garnered medals for Mobile Legends, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and Tekken 7, being crowned the Overall World Champion.
“We take immense pride in supporting a team of talented and passionate players who have been training relentlessly to represent our country. Looking ahead to 2024, we hold firm in our belief that Sibol will persist in elevating the Philippines on the global esports stage., says Sibol general manager Jab Escutin.
Other major milestones for PeSO include its move to a new headquarters in Mandaluyong City, Philippines and being honored with the National Federation of the Year 2023 title by the IESF.
PESO Looks into the Esports Scene in 2024
One initiative that PESO is looking forward to in 2024 is the building of an esports facility for Sibol athlete training, onsite events, and broadcasting. The organization is also keen to expand its National Grassroots Programs (NGP), focusing on other regions like Visayas and Mindanao.
“In 2024, PESO is resolute in fostering esports talent through the advancement of our esports facility. Our focus on enhancing esports infrastructure reflects our commitment to providing top-tier environments for players to hone their skills. Moreover, our commitment extends beyond physical boundaries. PESO’s esports facility is not just a space; it’s a dynamic broadcast center, bringing online events to life with cutting-edge technology and production values. PESO’s vision for 2024 is to create spaces that inspire excellence and propel esports to new heights,” says PESO executive director Marlon Marcelo.
