Toycon Remains Staple for Figure Lovers and Con-Goers Alike

It’s been 17 years since the beginning of Toycon and I believe we’re quite lucky to have such enthusiastic con organizers who keep bringing us what we expect and more every year! Check out some of the amazing stuff that happened during the con last weekend. 🙂

To be honest, there’s not much of a difference if you go to Toycon every year. But they do change the roster of their international guests! This year we were graced by the presence of Michael Copon, Dante Basco, Kelly Hu, Neal Adams, and Kevin Grievoux.

They seemed like quite a down-to-earth bunch and genuinely excited to be in Manila (or in the case of Dante Basco, to be back, LOL). Kelly Hu wouldn’t stop talking about Philippine mangoes and you know, I do believe we really have the best mangoes in the whole world. HAHAHA.

Toycon also brought in Korean popstar Hyorin (or Hyolyn), which I did not get to take photos of because I wasn’t there, but I did get to take a shot of Kissbee!

Mygawd, these girls are super petite, they don’t even come up to my shoulders, it’s kinda crazy! Do the Japanese breed their girls to be this cute and tiny? They’re so adorable. ;A;

Of course, the one thing you can’t miss about Toycon is the extravaganza of toy displays and merchandise! Here are some of my top picks:

Alright, I know, they’re just my complete biases but that’s the entire point, right? Haha!

What I love the most about this particular convention is how it has built a community. The con features most of the toy merchants that we regularly cast our wallets upon and walking around, you’d see almost everyone you knew who was into the toy collecting/customizing thing.

Overall, it was a good weekend! 🙂 Toycon may not have provided anything drastically new but it definitely has a warm spot in my heart. It feels like home. <3
