Everyone pretty much went crazy a few weeks back when JB Music Philippines decided to have a massive Audio Technica sale! Since I was in the market for a microphone for Twitch streaming purposes, I jumped at the chance to get my hands on the Audio Technica AT2020USB+ mic. Here’s the OMGluie Unboxing! <3
I’m a complete noob when it comes to gear, really, but I had this mic tagged on my Amazon wishlist, alongside the Razer Seiren and the Blue Yeti, because I needed to improve the audio quality of my Twitch stream. In all honesty, my Steel Series headset wasn’t cutting it anymore.
JB Music Philippines held a 40% off sale and this was one of the items included in the list! So now, here I am, with a badass mic that I barely know how to use, LOL!
Everything inside the box is straightforward.
Standard cardboard packaging with your microphone encased in thick foam for maximum protection. Which is good for me. 🙂
While the other items (your stand, USB connector, etc.) are all housed in a nifty faux-leather pouch embossed with the words “Audio Technica”.
Now let’s go to the mic itself!

It retails for around Php 12,000-13,000 in the Philippines but on Amazon it goes for around $140.00. I was able to purchase this mic for Php 7,320, roughly the same price as the Amazon one. 🙂
My personal experience with this mic is really just A+. The sound quality has improved a lot and I don’t mind listening to myself talk on playbacks of my streams anymore, haha!
It doesn’t pick up on all my breathing or sniffles (something I’m prone to do when I’m streaming, IDK why, don’t ask.) but it DOES pick up a lot of ambient noise. You can definitely hear me pressing my 3DS buttons or the mouse clicks.
One of my complaints though is that you can’t adjust the mic output volume on the mic itself, you’d have to go into your recording/streaming software to increase or decrease the levels but other than that, everything’s spic and span, haha!
I was recommended a pop filter and I’m planning to get one soon, once my budget allows me to, haha! What do you guys think? 🙂
