During a recently held Xbox Asia Developer Session, we were given a preview of several video game titles being developed in Asia! Each game is quite different from the other, so let’s check out what they have to offer. 🙂
13Z: The Zodiac Trials
Developed by Singaporean indie studio Mixed Realms, 13Z: The Zodiac Trials is an action, hack-and-slash, roguelike title.
Embark on a quest to become the 13th Zodiac in this frantic hack-and-slash roguelike action adventure. Take on a celestial trial of grit, speed and power, and rise stronger after each fall as you upgrade your skills.
It kind of reminds me of Genshin Impact, BUT, I like the idea that it has multiplayer mode AND roguelike elements. Seems fun! I might try it out when it launches in Q2 of 2025. 🙂
Xbox Asia Developer Session – Agni: Village of Calamity
One of the games that really piqued my interest was Agni: Village of Calamity. Developed by indie studio Separuh Interactive from Indonesia, it’s a psychological horror survival game.
Step into a world where horror meets strategy, and every moment is a test of your wits and nerves. AGNI: Village of Calamity delivers a gripping survival horror experience like no other, with unique features that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Watching the gameplay gave me Resident Evil / Silent Hill vibes. Though I’m not a horror game fan, I was very impressed by the visuals and storytelling. I hope that the studio is able to really polish the game for launch. Unfortunately, no news about its release has been shared yet, so stay tuned!
Nightmare Circus
From Thailand’s Fairplay Studio, we get Nightmare Circus, an action-adventure game!
Nightmare Circus is an action-adventure game where the player takes on the role of a puppeteer trapped in the Nightmare Realm. As a member of a wandering Circus troupe, you suddenly find yourself lost in an unknown land. You must fight enemies that wander the lands, save your fellow troupe members who are also stuck within this realm, uncover the mysteries of the realm, and make it back to the real world.
At first glance, and with that kind of title, you’d think it was another horror game. Buuuut, it’s kind of cute, reminds me of Hello Kitty Island Adventure, LOL. The target release date is 2026, so you might have to wait a little longer to get your hands on this game.
Vapor World: Over The Mind
Korean studio ALIVE Inc. presented Vapor World: Over The Mind during the Xbox Asia Developer Session. It’s a platformer action-adventure video game, and seems to have a side-scrolling orientation.
Vapor World is a narrative-driven souls-like platformer focused on deflection combat set in atmospheric world of dream.
The visuals are giving Lies of P and Elden Ring, but the gameplay feels more like The First Berzerker: Khazan. I’m really digging the gothic vibes of this game, though we don’t have a release date for the title either. 🙁
Xbox Asia Developer Session – Kriegsfront Tactics
Finally, Kriegsfront Tactics, a turn-based mecha tactical strategy game, comes from Toge Productions, the developers of the popular indie title Coffee Talk.
Set in alternate 1970s during an era of conflict in Southeast Asia, players are the commander of a special mechanised military unit sent to infiltrate behind enemy lines where they must manage their squad, resources, and mechs as well as face hard, morality testing decisions.
During the session, we learned that the devs have been working with the people behind Front Mission, which explains the mecha, the setting, and the gameplay, haha! No release date has been shared yet, so stay tuned for more.
And that’s it! I’m looking forward to checking out 13Z: The Zodiac Trials and Vapor World! What about you? 🙂
