Darkness is spreading across Wraeclast once again! Path of Exile 2 has released its new Forbidden Rites Event League alongside the 0.5.5 update, bringing back the Wildwood, revamped endgame activities, and plenty of new challenges.
Forbidden Rites Brings Rituals Back to Wraeclast
The King of the Mists and his followers are spreading dark rituals throughout Wraeclast. Path of Exile 2 players will encounter Ritual sites across the campaign, where defeating enemies and activating Effigies lets them resurrect their foes for another fight in exchange for Tribute and better rewards.
Here are some of the major additions coming with Forbidden Rites:
- Wildwood Returns: Enter the Wildwood through Endgame Maps, collect Primal, Vivid, and Wild Wisps, and release them to empower monsters and increase their rewards.
- Revamped Trial of Chaos: Pause runs between rooms, take on streamlined objectives, and use new Wager Modifiers to trade greater risks for better rewards. Endgame Trials can now reach 30 rooms.
- New Abyssal Ravines: Push through increasingly rewarding Abyssal encounters before facing a guaranteed Abyssal boss.
- Faster Endgame Progression: Defeat a tougher version of the Arbiter of Divinity to automatically clear the remaining Fortress sections and open up further Endgame progression.
- Eight New Challenges: Complete new objectives to earn exclusive cosmetics, including the Wildwood Guardian Pet and Locust effects.

The Duelist also received a deep dive, showcasing its aggressive swordplay, Ready Stance, Sand Stance, and Blood Stance mechanics ahead of the class’s arrival with the 1.0 release.
Meanwhile, Runes of Aldur content is going core, with Expedition remaining available beyond the Event League. New Plague and Remidus Supporter Packs and the Curse of the Allflame Mystery Box are also now available.
