The 2026 Pokémon World Championships wrapped up in San Francisco with plenty of announcements for fans to look forward to. Here’s what we know so far.
Pokemon World Championships 2027 Heads to Singapore
The next Pokémon World Championships will take Trainers to Singapore in 2027. The event will take place at Singapore EXPO, with Championship Sunday set for the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Pokémon Champions is also getting some major additions on September 9. Mega Lucario Z, Mega Garchomp Z, and Mega Absol Z will debut alongside Baxcalibur and Rillaboom, with Heatran joining battles at a later date.
Pokemon Movies and Animated Series Get New Adventures
Pokémon: Wild Card, a new feature-length animated movie, has been announced! It’ll arrive in 2027. The film follows an aspiring Pokémon Trading Card Game player and Mimikyu, with STORY inc. and CloverWorks handling production.
Meanwhile, Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu will premiere exclusively on Disney+ in 2027. The stop-motion series is being produced in collaboration with Aardman and will take place in the Galar region.
Pokémon GO and UNITE Also Get New Additions
Pokémon GO will let eligible Mega-Evolved Pokémon use a third Charged Attack and bring Mega-Evolved Pokémon to all GO Battle League levels next season. Armored Mewtwo is also returning soon.
Finally, Pokémon UNITE is adding four new playable Pokémon: Morpeko, Toxtricity, Jolteon, and Flareon.
New Pokémon TCG and TCG Pocket Cards
The Pokémon TCG is getting several new cards, including Mega Lucario Z ex, Mega Rayquaza ex, Mega Darkrai ex, Mega Greninja ex, and Mega Zygarde ex. The newly announced ex★ Series will also feature Raikou, Entei, and Suicune.
Over in Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, dual-type Pokémon will arrive with the next series beginning in October 2026.
