Don’t know ’bout ya’ll but ESGS is turning out to be THE gaming event of the year. Every time it comes around, things get bigger, better, and wilder! Here are some of the things I truly enjoyed (and you missed, if you didn’t get to go!) during entire event! 🙂
1. THE GAMING BOOTHS!
Hands-down the draw of this year’s ESGS were really the gaming demo booths. From Playstation, Ubisoft, and even Capcom, enthusiasts and fans got a taste of games that they loved even BEFORE their actual release!
My favorite, of course, would be experiencing the Monster Hunter World demo. Seriously, guys, this made my day! And my excitement for the actual game is reaching epic proportions, LOL.
I also played around in the Playstation booth…
I got to try Final Fantasy Dissidia NT and Gran Turismo. I didn’t attempt to play COD:WWII because you need to have twelve members to play!
The Ubisoft area was also pretty cool! Assasin’s Creed: Origins just launched THAT weekend so the hype was definitely real!
2. BIG NAME BRANDS & MOBILE GAMES
A lot of big brands like Globe, Acer Predator, MSI, HyperX, and even Sennheiser made their presence known!
Though some of these names have already been with ESGS since last year, it is still quite a sight to see – when their booths are all set-up and fake snow hits you in the face when you pass by the Predator booth area, haha!
3. INDIE GAMES, LOCAL FIGHTING TOURNIES
I didn’t get to take proper photos of my experience with the indie game arena during the event but it really fills my heart with pride and joy to see local talent pursuing their gaming passions. I got so drawn into a couple of mobile games, I downloaded them as soon as I got home, haha! (I’m looking at you, Potion Punch, LOL, sorry, but thank you Monstronauts, HAHAHAHA!)
ESGS is also home to the local fighting game community’s BRAWLFEST PHILIPPINES.
I honestly don’t play fighting games but I always appreciate the time and effort organizers put in to make their events and gatherings big and successful!
4. GEEK & GAMING MERCH
It was also fun to see a lot of merch and gaming paraphernalia for sale – some from local artists and some from big retailers, too!
I think the only thing lacking during the event would be the amount of cosplayers. I noticed a decline in numbers but I can’t blame the event, really, I think Filipino cosplayers like anime more than video games. Coz I mean, come on, video games are expensive to purchase when you can actually stream anime online, LOL.
AND THAT WAS ESGS! I have a short aftermath video below so check it out if you have time, it’s only two minutes, HAHA!
AHHHHHH. I’M SO EXCITED FOR NEXT YEAR, GUYS, STAY TUNED, I CAN’T WAIT FOR 2018, I SWEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
