Dune: Awakening is trading sand for ice. The free Blood and Ice expansion arrives December 2026 across all platforms, and it’s sending survivors north into the Polar Sink.
A Frozen Frontier in the Polar Sink

The Polar Sink splits into two biomes, the tundra and the ice cap, where surviving the cold is its own problem to solve. New survival resources and gear come with it, plus around 35 hours of progression, which puts it closer to a second campaign than a weekend detour.
Dune: Awakening Blood and Ice adds the following new features:
- Two biomes to learn, the tundra and the ice cap
- Around 35 hours of new progression
- New survival resources and cold-weather gear
- The Water Crisis event, following The Scourge
- A cosmetics store with outfits, vehicle variants and base customisation
- Offline single-player in November, then cross-play in January 2027
The base game’s loop revolved around heat, water, and sandstorms, so the pitch here is a different set of hazards rather than a recoloured desert.
New Events, Cosmetics, and Cross-Play

The Water Crisis event follows The Scourge, with new gameplay, locations, and rewards. Players will also see a new Events tab to track progress across them.
A cosmetics store adds outfits, vehicle variants, and base customization options, and purchases there help fund continued free updates.
On the access side, offline single-player lands in November, ahead of character transfers and full cross-play in January 2027. The good news is that Blood and Ice will be free for owners of Dune: Awakening, and it arrives after the Chapter 2: Lost Harvest update.
