I don’t know what’s been going on recently, but there’s been a slew of cozy game announcements and upcoming releases with creepy/horror vibes. And it’s not even spooky season yet!
I have a couple already on my Steam wishlist, and as a cozy game girlie, here are my recommendations. 🙂
Grave Seasons
You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for a release date for Grave Seasons. It feels like I’ve waited forever.
But yeah, this was the first “creepy” cozy game that I ever encountered online, and I remember following them on Twitter a long, long time ago. They finally have a release date, which is August 14, 2026.
Grave Seasons is a narrative farming sim with a terrifying twist – someone in the town is a supernatural serial killer. Farm, romance, and investigate your way through the unsettling town of Ashenridge.
So yeah, farm sim, yes. Romance, yes. Supernatural serial killer…? Maybe. But anyway, I can’t wait. HAHA.
Village in the Shade
This is one of the games I learned about while researching indie titles showcasing at TGS 2025. It’s not an indie title because it’s developed by Nippon Ichi Software Inc.
Village in the Shade or (Hono-gurashi no Niwa) was initially only announced for Japan, but we got news for a global release for July 29, 2026!
Enjoy quiet, countryside living in a Japanese village in this brand new farming sim! Just make sure you follow the rules—or else!
I really, really like the pixel art that was used in this game. Yokai and Japanese supernatural folklore, not so much. BUT there is a non-creepy/horror mode you can play if you don’t want the jumpscares. XD
Graveyard Keeper 2
We have a sequel to the creepy cozy game Graveyard Keeper! I was obsessed with this game for a bit a while back, and I’m so glad that we’re getting an addition to the series.
Graveyard Keeper 2 was revealed during the 2026 Triple-i Initiative, but with no specific release date. However, the launch period is within 2026.
The most inaccurate medieval cemetery sim is back! Restore The Town, manage the graveyard, automate production, lead your undead army into battle and turn the zombie problem into a thriving business! Graveyard Keeper 2 is the grotesque sequel that’s deeper than six feet, and more unhinged than ever!
It seems they’ve added more features like zombie attacks, etc. I know it’s not your typical cozy game fare, BUT there’s something kinda relaxing about deciding what to do about dead bodies. HAHAHAHA.
Crop
Also revealed during the 2026 Triple-i Initiative, Crop is one of the two 3D visual titles in this list! It’s a relatively new find for me and it gives you the “oh, that’s kinda gross but I dig it” vibes. HAHA.
Crop doesn’t have a release date yet, but I like how visceral everything looks in the game.
A gritty farming thriller where your safety depends on the yield. Bound to a dying farm, you must dig, plant, irrigate, and cut your way through the decay. Uncover buried secrets, both in the soil and quietly brewing within the village. The only way out is through the harvest.
There wasn’t a lot revealed in the game’s announcement trailer, save for the farming and kinda body horror aspects, so I’m looking forward to seeing more as the game develops. 🙂
Moonlight Peaks
Moonlight Peaks is another cozy game with 3D visuals in this recos list, haha! I’ve been following this title’s development for a few years, and I’m glad the devs have finally announced an official release date.
We’ll get to play the game by July 7, 2026, and based on the screenshots and trailers, it seems to lean more towards the traditional cozy game genre (farming, fishing, NPC relationships), aside from its vampiric themes.
Welcome to your new vampiric life in the magical town of Moonlight Peaks. Raise mystical crops, learn spell-casting and potion-making, and befriend – or even romance – the local werewolves, witches, and mermaids in this heartwarming supernatural life-sim. Eternity awaits!
So, yeah, these are my creepy/horror cozy game recommendations. These are all on my Steam wishlist, by the way, and most of them will probably be playable on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. 🙂
