I’ve had the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra with me for a month or so, and I’ve played a variety of games on it, too. So, here are some of its features that I think make it quite a good device for gaming.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra’s foldable display is probably its strongest gaming feature. There’s nothing like the flexibility it offers!
The 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X front screen lets you play in a more compact manner, so it’s a great match for casual games. But don’t get it wrong, it has up to 120Hz refresh rate, so you can still play faster, more action-packed games using this display.
But when the gaming gets a little more serious, the inner 8.0-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen is what you’d want to play on. Not only does it retain the 120Hz refresh rate, it goes up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness, so you can see a lot of the little details in your game with great vibrancy.
You can also play games in Multi Window Mode, which kinda feels like overkill, but for those who like to min-max their games, there’s a way to do so with this smartphone!
So, having the choice and flexibility that these two differently-sized screens offer definitely makes for a more dynamic gaming experience. 🙂
Power and Performance in the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 CPU
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra comes equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 CPU (3nm) processor, which technically allows it to run almost any kind of game smoothly.
I tried it on a variety of different games, and I didn’t experience a lot of performance dip. Heavier games like Honkai: Star Rail, Dredge, and Discounty all worked well.
I barely noticed any lag, and even though there was some heat emanating from the back of the device, it was still comfortable to hold and wasn’t hot enough to burn or fry any of my fingers, LOL.
Most of the games I played could run up to 60 FPS, so the powerful CPU, in combination with the efficient cooling, is doing its job. So, you can be assured that no matter what kind of game you’re playing, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra has the performance power to carry you through.
Longer Gaming in 5000mAh Battery
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra has a 5,000mAh battery, and on paper, it doesn’t look like a lot. But I’ve tested it out, timed just how much of it I’ve consumed during a specific amount of time, and am pleasantly surprised by the results.
I used Honkai: Star Rail as my test game, which I thought was perfect because it required you to be online and is resource-heavy with full 3D-graphics.
I turned on Performance mode, unfolded the device to play on its wider, 8-inch display, and went to town. In a span of 30 minutes, farming materials at double speed lowered my battery from 42% to 36%.
To test another game that needed less resources, I played a pixel-graphics game called Discounty. In 15 minutes, my battery went from 92% to 89%.
This was all tested using the larger inner display, so I imagine using the front screen would consume less battery power. Overall, at this rate, you can game for around six-seven hours and still have some battery left for other tasks.
Customize Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra Experience with Game Booster
One of the device’s features that’s really meant for gaming is Game Booster. It’s easily accessible, so you can instantly tweak settings even while you’re in-game. All you need to do is swipe when you’re gaming, and you’ll see the options there.
You can toggle between Battery Saver Mode, Balanced Mode, and Performance Mode, depending on your needs. You can check basic stats like CPU, GPU, and RAM usage, while also being able to monitor your FPS.
Little QoL features such as the system monitor, touch protection, block navigation buttons, and touch booster work best for those into competitive games that need maximum concentration and close to no disruptions.
And I find it nice that you can easily screenshot or record your gameplay, so it’s easy to take footage of what you’re playing.

The gaming experience with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is really a fun and flexible one.
It offers so many options to game with the foldable display, allows you to play resource-heavy to lighter titles with its powerful CPU, and can keep you gaming longer with the 5,000mAh battery. What’s more, Game Booster offers a lot of quality-of-life features to personalize the whole experience.
