Lenovo Legion 5Pi – Packaging & Features

Straightforward Box & Packaging

Unlike the Legion Y740Si, the Legion 5Pi’s packaging is even more “no-frills”. You simply open the box, lift the foam covers and it’s easy to fish the laptop out of its confines.

If you’re looking for some really fancy packaging, you won’t find it here. But what you get is a straight-forward, no nonsense way of bringing a powerful piece of equipment safely to you. 🙂

Unique White Backlit “Y” Logo

If there’s something that’ll really wow you about the Legion 5Pi’s chassis is the very eye-catching white backlit “Y” logo on the laptop’s lid.

On standby, the “Y” breathes like it has a life of its own and when plugged in, the whole unique logo lights up. It reminds me of those cool extraterrestrial logos you can spot in popular sci-fi films or series, haha!

Coldfront 2.0 Cooling System

The Lenovo Legion 5Pi also has the brand’s Coldfront 2.0 thermal cooling system. With vents located at the sides, back, and bottom of the lid, the laptop is poised to have better airflow to prevent its temperatures from getting too high.

Compared to the Legion Y740Si, the Legion 5Pi doesn’t heat up extremely noticeably on its keyboard. When playing games, the fans are not too loud or distracting, allowing for a better gaming experience that I’m sure most gamers will appreciate.

RGB LED TrueStrike Keyboard

I think the best part about turning on the Lenovo Legion 5Pi is the RGB keyboard that greets you when you first power it on.

The keyboard is pretty impressive and with its TrueStrike technology, the laptops boasts of 100% anti-ghosting and sub-millisecond response times, perfect for gamers who prefer to play FPS or competitive titles that don’t do well with any sort of lag.

And yes, the keyboard’s RGB lights ARE CUSTOMIZABLE. Just open up your Lenovo Vantage application that’s already pre-installed in the Legion 5Pi and you can easily create custom profiles according to your preference!

For me, the Legion 5Pi looks and feels really cool. Like you wanted to subtly brag that yes, you own a gaming laptop, and yes, it looks pretty freakin’ awesome.

The combo of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti and 512GB M.2 SSD make for snappy performance, whether you’re simply browsing the web, working on documents, or battling it out in games like Genshin Impact.

I spent most of my time doing office work on the Legion 5Pi, alternating with playing Genshin Impact and trying not to wet the unit with my salty tears. Yeah, no Zhongli for me, LOL.

Even with a couple of hours of gaming, I can still press on the upper part of the keyboard comfortably. There is some heat and noise but nothing too terrible that it will make you stop playing altogether.

I also did not notice any significant frame drops, especially when I was plowing through batches of Hilichurls in Teyvat, HAHAHAHA. I wholly attribute this performance to the speed of the SSD where my game was installed and the subtle power of the 1650 Ti GPU.

If the Lenovo Legion 5Pi ticks all of your boxes, I’d say it’s a great choice. Not only does it perform very well, it also has a really sleek look and feel that not all gaming laptops can pull off.
