One of the biggest Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournaments in the South East Asia region, MPL PH Season 9, is starting once again this February 18!
Check out the details on where you can catch the series, the new rules for the tournament format, and the teams participating in the competition!
New Rules & Format For MPL PH Season 9
For the 9th Season, MPL PH will implement new rules for the eight teams in the tournament.
The team to be ranked first will determine the placement of the third or fourth-ranked teams to be placed in either the first or second match, and the same will follow for subsequent ranked fifth or sixth positions as well.
Season 9 marks a chapter for many teams, and we are excited to bring back our athletes to demonstrate Lakas ng Pinas, as expertly shown in the M3 World Championship. With new players filling in the shoes of our legacy players and with our newest partner, Samsung, we are just as excited as our fans to see how well they perform this season,” stated Matt Jaron, Business Development Manager, MPL Philippines.
In terms of lineup, each team can have as many as three assistant coaches or analysts to support them; however, only one will help the head coach during the drafting phase. The rules were adjusted this season to raise the competition level and empower players.
Roster Changes In Participating Teams
Changes in team rosters will also definitely affect how the tournament will run this season. Many of the teams seem to be pushing their new players to the forefront, with veterans taking a break for Season 9.
This is notable in champion team BLI whose power duo, Johnmar “OhMyV33nus” Villaluna and Danerie “Wise” Del Rosario, will be taking a break, while Jayson “Eson” Gerardo and Kent Xavier “Kevier” Lopez will be leading the team for Season 9.
Other teams will welcome back previous members such as those in Echo and Nexplay EVOS, while ONIC PH retains their current roster.
RSG Philippines will add new talent to its roster through Former TNC Pro’s Dylan “Light” Catipon, and Smart Omega completes its lineup with Jefferson “Amethyst” Santos and Jhonville Borres “Outplayed” Villar. Bren Esports also welcomes Kenneth “Saxa” Fedelin in their team.
MPL PH Season 9 Schedule & Prize
Up for grabs this tournament is up to USD 150K in prizes, and leading tech brand Samsung will be the tournaments official mobile device partner.
Samsung Philippines is excited to join forces with MOONTON Games as we have a huge consumer base of mobile gamers whom we know will be just as thrilled. We want to showcase how well-rounded our Galaxy devices are, whatever your interest may be, from content creation to music to gaming. We make products that deliver an amazing smartphone experience overall,” said Jerry Mañus, Mobile Experience Business Unit Head at Samsung Philippines.
