Grinding Gear Games has revealed more information about Keepers of the Flame, the upcoming expansion for its OG action-RPG Path of Exile. Expect a twisted revamp to the Breach league, new Ascendency options, QoL updates, and more!
Path of Exile: Keepers of the Flame Release Date
The release date of Path of Exile: Keepers of the Flame (Version 3.27) is October 31, 2025 (PDT).
Honoring the legacy and iconic history of the Breach league, players will encounter Ailith, founder of the Keepers of the Flame, which is a secretive monastic order to defend Wraeclast from the invading Breachlords. These are entities that have clawed their way from a barren realm, looking to claim every inch of Wraeclast and establish its ominous constructs across the land.
Protect Ailith as she channels the Flame, allowing one to blast away the Breachlords’ twisted infestations. In certain areas, the boundary between realms has thinned completely. Players may also encounter a massive breach hand that tears through the space between dimensions, opening an Unstable Breach that can flood the zone with unspeakable terrors.
Hunt the monsters at your peril, for your actions may draw the gaze of Vruun, Marshal of Xesht. Overcome this fearsome foe to permanently seal the Breach and cut off another thread binding the Breachlords’ world to Wraeclast. There’s a lot more of them waiting in the endgame areas that have been convoluted into Breach Hives, which are teeming with Breach Monsters.
Key Features and Changes
1. Graft Upgrades with the Genesis Tree
Aiding Ailith in cutting down Breaches gives players access to the Genesis Tree, which sprouts additional limbs to nurture new forms of strength: Currency, Uniques, Equipment, and Grafts – a new otherworldly enhancement. There will be sixteen different grats, each with its own skills and benefits. And as the Genesis Tree matures, it will produce Foulborn currency that can give Grafts more powerful upgrades.
2. New Bloodline Ascendancy Classes
Called Bloodline Ascendancies, these can be unlocked character-by-character by defeating certain endgame bosses. There will be 10 Classes, each having powers connected to the defeated endgame bosses. Not to worry though, players can still chosoe to allocate points between the original Ascendancy Classes or these new Bloodline Classes.
3. Path of Exile 2’s Asynchronous Trade
With the positive feedback about PoE 2: Third Edict’s Asynchronous Trade system, GGG is implementing the same in Keepers of the Flame. This feature can be accessed upon reaching Act 6 through Fausus, who will now be in charge of players’ Merchant Tabs.
4. New Endgame Bosses, League Challenges, and QoL Updates
Three new Uber Incarnation boss fights and 40 new Keepers Challenge League challenges are also part of the Keepers of the Flame expansions.
There will also be some QoL updates – Heist Rogues will now begin at max level, the Atlas Passive Tree and regular Passive Tree can be instantly refundable with Gold, and you will be able to instantly swap and use an an Augmentation Orb when using Alteration Orbs.
Wooh, that’s a lot of new stuff to get into. Though I have never played Path of Exile, I’m really interested in this expansion! I’m not sure if I’ll ever have time, but I wish I can give it a try soon! XD
