Announced earlier this year and launched around August 2020, the ASUS ROG Strix G15 in the special “Electro Punk” edition has made pink lovers go gaga.
Let’s take a look at what you get with the package and how I spent two weeks with this pink-tastic gaming laptop!

The G15 isn’t the most current gaming laptop released by ROG but the Electro Punk Edition just got launched in 2020. The unit that ROG lent me has the following technical specs:

- 4GB x 2 DDR4 3200Mhz RAM
- NVIDIA® GeForce GTX 1650 Ti GPU
- 512GB PCIE SSD Internal Storage
- Windows 10
At a single glance, the G15 Electro Punk Edition doesn’t overwhelmingly wow you with what it packs inside its casing. Priced at Php 66,995, it comes off as a mid-range laptop that is tweaked towards gaming.
However, the whole package is what gives you the most bang for your buck!

Distinct Packaging To House Laptop & Peripherals
What I love the most about ROG unboxings is how custom-fit each product’s packaging is to the product that you receive.
You start off with a large outer protective box with a standard, loud ROG logo at the front. Inside you’ll find the laptop box & the backpack’s protective cardboard.
The laptop box also has specific compartments to stow the unique peripherals that are packaged with the G15 Electro Punk Edition.
ROG Ranger Electro Punk Backpack
The package comes with the ROG Ranger Electro Punk backpack (worth Php 1,400) so you can carry around your ROG Strix G15 Electro Punk Edition in style.
It follows the hot pink motif and has a cool removable ROG patch in custom font at the front. The backpack will fit any 15” laptop and has a padded back to carefully protect your goods. XD
ROG Sheath Electro Punk Mousepad
Another unique item that’s included in the laptop package is the ROG Sheath Electro Punk mousepad. Worth Php 1,910, the mousepad measures 35 x 17 inches, which makes it a great desktop mat.
The hot pink designs on the mouse pad really make it stand out and tie the Electro Punk look together. I especially like the bright colored lining that makes sure that edges don’t get scuffed or frayed over time.

And finally, you will also get the ROG Strix Impact II mouse in Electro Punk colors and it’s worth Php 2,230.
It has a nice matte black finish in a semi-transparent plastic housing that you can slightly see through. When plugged in, the hot pink details brilliantly light up to catch your attention.

Popping Electro Punk Design
If there’s one thing the G15 Electro Punk Edition can proudly put forward is its overwhelmingly beautiful design. When you open the box, the look and feel of the laptop is what instantly blows you away. TBH, if I wasn’t saving up for another laptop, I’d probably purchase this one based on looks alone, LOL.
The lid has the ROG logo in bright pink, emblazoned at the forefront, and the metal of the lid has a nice brushed finish that crisscrosses in an eye-catching way. If you look closely, you’ll see a hue of purple in the metal brushing.
The inside of the laptop is, surprisingly, not any different! It also has that same elegant metal brush design with the wordings on the left side of the keyboard.
Distinct RGB & Color Details
When you turn the laptop on, you’ll immediately notice a strip of light under the unit. This strip of light, along with the chiclet keyboard, is RGB and can be fixed or controlled using ROG’s Aura Creator program.
The finer details that I really appreciated are the neon-y pink colors of the WASD keys and the subtle, yet fresh pink strip along the laptop’s lid. Overall, I feel like the design was so well thought of that the hot pink hues don’t get too overwhelming!
Strategic Heat Vent Placement
One of the features that I really liked about the G15 Electro Punk Edition is the strategic heat vent placement. The vents are located behind the screen, mostly away from the keyboard, so your fingers don’t feel the heat of the exhaust.
More than half of the back of the laptop is also vented, complete with the Electro Punk designs, so the cooling is decent. Just be sure not to place it on your lap because the hot air will directly hit your thighs, LOL!

Strong Gaming Power
The G15 Electro Punk Edition provides more than enough power for great gaming. Though its hardware may not be the most current, it definitely has the juice to run most games at a good pace.
I spent most of the past 2 weeks playing Genshin Impact and it runs so smoothly with barely any frame skips or lag. There’s minimal heat felt due to the vent placement (just don’t place your hands directly on the vents, LOL) and it doesn’t make any noticeable fan noises, which is always good!
The only time I noticed frame drops and lag was when playing Sims 4 but we had around 14 expansion packs running all at the same time plus more than a dozen mods. So, I felt more forgiving.
Overall, this is a good consideration for running the video games of today and of the future, if you don’t have the Php 80,000+ budget for extremely overpowered gaming laptops
Need For External Webcam & Speakers
One thing I didn’t like that much in the G15 Electro Punk Edition is the lack of a webcam. It’s good to run triple-A games but if you plan to stream, you’ll definitely need to connect an external webcam.
I also noticed that the audio volume of this laptop is pretty low. I had to crank it up to the max when watching videos on YouTube. If you’re picky about audio, I’d recommend using a good headset or a set of external speakers.
The webcam is mostly a no-brainer as most streamers I know prefer to use external devices instead of the built-in ones but the low audio levels is one big drawback for me.
That Pretty, Pretty Pink Package
Come on, just by the look of the unit itself (plus the peripherals), who would not want to have this laptop?! It’s gorgeous and the specs undoubtedly pack a punch so you don’t have to worry about running the heaviest games.
If you’re a fan of the color or the overall aesthetic theme, the ASUS ROG STRIX G15 Electro Punk Edition is a strong gaming unit that’s housed in a really pretty pink package. Honestly, who could ask for more?
