Tokyo Game Show 2026 – Square Enix Game Demo Roundup and Booth Tour

Tokyo Game Show 2026 Square Enix Booth Game Demo

I really have to give it to Square Enix for the amazing booth and game demo options they had at Tokyo Game Show this year. I got to play three of their games and take a look around their massive booth. Here’s the experience.

Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United Demo at TGS 2026

Tokyo Game Show 2026 Romancing SaGa 3 Destinies United Demo

This is the first time that I’ve ever played a Romancing SaGa game! It’s a typical Japanese RPG that features a turn-based system with unique features. The visuals are 3D-anime style, if that’s to your liking.

The characters can learn different skills and techniques (called Glimmer) in battle, plus you can gain advantage in battle through exploiting enemy weaknesses.

TBQH, the demo felt really short, especially since it felt like there was more to explore in the map. But it’s definitely on my radar now that I’ve had a taste of it. Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United launches February 16, 2027, across platforms such as PC, Nintendo Switch | 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.

Final Fantasy Resonance Demo at Tokyo Game Show

Tokyo Game Show 2026 Final Fantasy Resonance Demo

This is probably my favorite demo at the Square Enix Booth during Tokyo Game Show 2026! Final Fantasy Resonance is the first Final Fantasy game to get the HD-2D treatment.

The demo is actually already playable across most platforms, but it was fun to experience it during the event. Another turn-based, role-playing game, Final Fantasy Resonance is based off of Square Enix’s mobile gacha game, Brave Exvius.

You get to recruit and “resonate” with different Final Fantasy characters across the series and use their skills in battle! It’s a pretty fun game to play if you’re a big Final Fantasy fan, haha! It’s also launching soon on October 22, 2027! 🙂

Final Fantasy VII Revelation Demo at Square Enix TGS 2026

Tokyo Game Show 2026 Final Fantasy VII Revelation Demo

I’m pretty sure everyone’s most excited about the Final Fantasy VII Revelation demo. This was the first public playable demo and it debuted during Tokyo Game Show 2026.

Without much context, you’re immediately plunged right into the middle of the story with your whole retinue of characters (yes, Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind were both playable during the demo). The FITS system is also already implemented, so you can get a taste of the new classes the characters can utilize.

Honestly, the gameplay felt a lot more fluid than when I first tried out Remake. And I’m sure they’ve done a lot to add more content to the final part of the trilogy, haha! Anyway, Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches April 8, 2027, across most platforms. 🙂

Here’s the demo experience:

Square Enix Booth FFXIV Evercold TGS 2026
Square Enix Booth Final Fantasy Resonance TGS 2026
Square Enix Booth Dragon Quest TGS 2026
Square Enix Booth Romancing SaGa 3 TGS 2026

Okay, so, what is Tokyo Game Show without a Square Enix booth, right? They actually pulled out all the stops this year and really focused on Final Fantasy VII Revelation. They had a lot of good photo spots, which always had a queue, and I didn’t have a lot of time to line up, huhu.

But seeing them in person was already more than good enough for me! There were other small areas for Final Fantasy Resonance, FF XIV: Evercold, Dragon Quest, and Romancing SaGa 3. So, there’s a little something for everyone. 🙂

Anyway, excited to see what’s in store next year. More about Tokyo Game Show 2026 here!
