It’s very rare that I stay up late to watch game showcases like Gamescom 2025 Opening Night Live, but here we are! Here are my top picks and mentions of games highlighted during the show! <3
1. Monster Hunter Wilds x FFXIV Crossover Event

Obviously, the newly announced crossover event between Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds and Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIV tops the list.
It looks like we’re getting a raid-level quest, this time facing off with Omega Planetes, and a Chocobo skin for our Seikrets.
Honestly, if they include a Moogle outfit for our Palicos, it’s gonna be hard for me to resist going back to the game again. HAHAHA. The devs also mentioned that the crossover event will be released around late September!

2. Cult of the Lamb Woolhaven – Gamescom 2025

I’m a big, big fan of Cult of the Lamb. After the devs added the new content and DLCs, I played it again after its launch in 2022! Now, there’s a new story expansion called Woolhaven coming early 2026 and I am very, very stoked!
Besides the new story content, we’re getting more dungeons and areas to explore, a winter season (WHY IS IT ALWAYS WINTER?!), and ranching for our base.
The gameplay looks incredibly badass, and those boss fights feels very fast-paced and challenging. I am excited!

3. LEGO® Batman™: Legacy of the Dark Knight

I have fond memories of the LEGO video games, particularly the Star Wars Saga one because I played a LOT of it with my siblings when we were younger. As a Batman girlie, I was incredibly happy to see The Dark Knight trilogy as the focal point of the newest LEGO game!
There isn’t much to say about this game because it already speaks for itself. Though I’m not a fan of rhythmic action in my battle systems, I will definitely put aside my biases to play this one. It’s already on my wishlist! Also, I can’t wait to see Catwoman’s mini-fig come to life this 2026, whee~

4. Ghost of Yotei – Gamescom 2025 ONL

I don’t have a PlayStation 5, but I can’t ignore just how majestic Ghost of Yotei’s latest trailer is. So, it’s on the list, haha!
The Song of Vengeance trailer doesn’t really show anything that we don’t already know about Ghost of Yotei. BUT Sony did announce that the new Legends multiplayer content will also be available for this game. Nice.
I’m happy for fans because this game is coming out October 2025, too!

5. Resident Evil Requiem
I’m not a fan of horror game series, but I thought the Resident Evil Requiem trailer gave its fanbase the right amount of suspense, thrill, and hype.
I played a lot of Resident Evil 4 and 5 when I was a game guide writer, so even if I wouldn’t personally choose to play this game, the series is still close to my heart. HAHA. Anyway, the footage doesn’t reveal much, just snippets of the storyline and cutscene quality. So, I look forward to what else Capcom will reveal in the future, especially since the release date is February 27, 2026!

Gamescom 2025 Opening Night Live Mentionables
1. World of Warcraft: Midnight
Blizzard revealed a new cinematic trailer for its upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, Midnight. This time, Void being Xal’atath sets her sights on the home of the blood elves.
I played WoW a long, long time ago, had a couple of rebounds with it, and now, IONNO. Like. Damn. LEAVE MY SUNWELL ALONE. HOW DARE THEY TOUCH SILVERMOON CITY.
Anyway, player housing is finally coming to the game in this expansion. I’m excited about that, but I’m not sure it’s enough for me to go back to the grind. Especially since most of the old guard have already been shifted out with newer main characters. D:
2. inZOI’s Island Getaway
I’m a sucker for anything life sim and I’ve been holding back on buying inZOI on Steam. I’ve also been hearing complaints about the game’s lack of content during Early Access.
But the new Island Getaway DLC looks pretty interesting, and maybe it’ll fill the gap of lacking content. Who knows. I’ll probably buy it when I have extra cash, haha!
3. Sekiro: No Defeat (Anime)
Again, going back to my game guide writer roots, I did play Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice as part of my job. Not a Soulslike girlie either, but I thought I’d mention it here simply because I think it’s amazing that games can be turned to anime nowadays! Sekiro: No Defeat will be shown exclusively via Crunchyroll, though I’m not sure when the release date will be.
Anyway, I severely lack sleep because the show ended at 4AM Philippine time, LOL. Let me know your thoughts! 🙂
