I’m sure everyone is suffering from a heavy case of cabin fever. I can attest to this myself as I try to limit leaving my home to every few weeks, just to keep safe. That’s why it’s super interesting for me that Globe has recently launched a new platform called Globe Virtual Hangouts with events such as Super Gamer Fest that specifically focuses on esports!
Launched via online event last October 18, the Super Gamer Fest (SGF) 2020 is a first-of-its-kind live streamed online festival happening on December 5-6 and 11-13, 2020. The online event is created by, with, and for gamers in Southeast Asia, combining esports, awards, and fun. Gamers from all over Southeast Asia can have a unique online experience with gaming tournaments, watch parties, interviews with top esports personalities, workshops and behind the scenes training, and the region’s first gaming and esports awards!
Presented in partnership with Singapore’s top telco, Singtel, through PVP Esports 2020 community tournaments, Cindy Tan, Head of Business and Marketing of Singtel’s International Group, shared that SGF is a way to create a holistic and fun environment that is beyond just tournament gameplays. “It’s about all things gaming that we enjoy, and not stopping at just competition when it comes to us presenting esports in an engaging way.”
“Globe has always been at the forefront of games and esports, providing Philippine gamers with access to the best games as well as building assets to improve the Philippine esports scene,” said DC Dominguez, Director for Games and Esports of Globe. “With the tournaments on the road to Super Gamer Fest, we’ll be sending Filipino representatives to compete at the Collegiate and Open divisions of the PVP Regional Finals. This will all be done through Globe Virtual Hangouts, which is helping us make these tournaments accessible to all kinds of viewers and gamers, may it be casual or hardcore fans.”
SGF will also be showcasing the PVP Esports 2020 Community Championships hosted by Singapore. With a pool of US 100,000 in cash and prizes, four (4) winning teams from the Ulti Cup, University Alliance Cup, and National Campus Open will represent the Philippines against representatives from all over Southeast Asia in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) and Valorant.
Local qualifiers for the Collegiate Cup will be held by AcadArena while Globe Virtual Hangouts will be presenting the Ulti Cup that will be the Philippine qualifier for PVP Esports Open Tournament for both MLBB and Valorant.
