The Fujifilm X-Half: Hands-On and Barcelona Diary

We went to Barcelona for Mobile World Congress 2026, and I brought a Fujifilm X-Half to document the sightseeing portion of the trip.

Here’s my hands-on feature plus a little photo and video diary to show you my experience with the compact camera.

Fujifilm X-Half is Compact, Easy to Carry

The main reason I wanted to bring the Fujifilm X-Half to Barcelona was its compact, lightweight design.

The size (105.8 x 64.3 x 45.8mm) and weight (240g with battery) make it easy to fit into a small bag. This is great for travel, especially when visiting crowded tourist spots where it’s dangerous to whip out expensive gadgets.

It was also convenient to have a lens cover included in the package, so you won’t have to worry about damage while it’s stuffed in your purse or bag. 🙂

Film Simulation & Filters

The Fujifilm X-Half has many built-in features that make it quite a nifty camera. You’ve got Fujifilm’s iconic Film Simulation recipes and filters that give you really interesting effects and perspectives.

I tried these out at home before I went to Barcelona, and, as a photography newbie, I felt some of my shots turned out great, hehe! ;P

While in Barcelona, I didn’t play around with filters much. I stuck to the built-in Film Simulation recipes like Classic Chrome and Velvia.

On occasion, I used Black and White and Sepia, just to add some nostalgic vibes to my shots.

Like I mentioned, I’m a photography newbie, so please don’t expect some groundbreaking photos or videos, haha! I just wanted to share some photos I took while abroad – whether it’s cityscapes, portraits, or still-life shots. 🙂

If you’re also curious about how the camera performs for video, I created a short reel to document the trip. You can watch it below:

I had a really interesting time with the Fujifilm X-Half while I had it and while traveling with it. The compact weight and size were really convenient, and I adored using the Film Simulation recipes for taking footage.

But it wasn’t smooth sailing from start to finish. Vlogging isn’t its main strength, mainly because of the lack of IBIS (in-body image stabilization) and auto-focus flexibility. This made my videos shaky and blurry, which was sad because Barcelona had really nice spots to film.

I also can’t say that the Fujifilm X-Half is a beginner-friendly point-and-shoot camera.

There were too many manual controls (ISO, aperture, shutter speed) to adjust, but most were accessed via the small touchscreen.

The lack of physical buttons and dials (which were mostly present in the Fujifilm X-E5, which I love!!) makes it feel like you’re fiddling with settings for too long, as if you’ve already missed the moment to shoot. D:

BUT I believe that in the right hands, this camera will be an incredibly cool tool. A secondary camera, if you will! 🙂 I can only imagine the type of photos and videos that more creative or professional photographers could take with it. Haha!

The Fujifilm X-Half is priced at Php 39,999 and is available in authorized retailers in the Philippines. Thank you to Fujifilm Philippines for letting me take your wonderful little camera around for my trip. I hope we get to do this again soon! 🙂
