Fujifilm Philippines just launched its latest mirrorless camera, the Fujifilm X-E5 in the Philippines!
I recently got a sneak peek and short hands-on experience with the new camera, and it’s got my creative senses tingling!
Fujifilm X-E5 – Specs & Price
The Fujifilm X-E5 is the latest mirrorless camera in the brand’s X-viewfinder series. Packed with a 40.2MP X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor, it delivers a lower native ISO of 125 and showcases its power in low-light scenarios with improvements to its autofocus capabilities.
Using its X-Processor 5, it can use AI technology to further upgrade the AF functions to track subjects accurately, whether stationary or in motion.
It only weighs around 445 grams with the battery included, and is priced at Php 91,990 (body only) or Php 104,990 (with the XF23mm F2.8 Kit lens).
I know, I know, that price range is a bit tough, right? But after a short time with the camera, I wasn’t surprised at why the camera costs that much, haha! XD
Features & First Impressions
The first time I saw the X-E5, it low-key gave me throwback vibes. It reminded me of the old pictures my grandparents had, the black-and-white or sepia ones that fade gracefully with age. And I think that’s what the brand was going for here – the combination of a nostalgic form factor with the modern camera functions of our time.
This feeling is really emphasized by the design of the X-E5. Its aluminum top plate is not only durable, but also functional. It ensures that the flurry of analog buttons is seamlessly integrated into the camera’s body.
A new Film Simulation dial is one of the main highlights. There are over 20 presets that can be used, and a few can be customized into a creator’s personal “film recipes.”
This makes it easier to change the look of photos, depending on the situation, without going into the camera’s menus. It’s very convenient, and there’s always something satisfying about using tactile buttons on a gadget, hahaha! You can also use these Film Simulation settings when taking videos, so that’s a BIG plus for me!
Located at the front of the Fujifilm X-E5 is the Front Control Lever, which is another highlight of the camera for me. It gives users access to the Surround View function, which displays a semi-transparent or outlined area outside the image. This means you can monitor what’s happening in and out of the frame, so it’s great for timing the perfect shot.
What I like about the Front Control Lever is that it allows you to zoom into specific points of interest within the shot. The powerful 40 mega-pixel sensor ensures that details are not lost, image noise is close to none, so photos look crisp and vivid! I’m sure there are a lot more functions available with this lever, but unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time to explore them all.
There are other features of the camera, like the viewfinder’s new Classic Display mode and the five-axis IBIS mechanism. But like I said, I only had a limited time to experience them, so I can’t really say much.
I don’t consider myself a creative person, TBH. So I was apprehensive about taking the X-E5 out for a spin because I have little to no knowledge about operating cameras. LOL. But I’m glad that my first camera preview was with Fujifilm and the X-E5!
There were many things I didn’t know you could do with cameras like these nowadays. And even if I’m a fledgling when it comes to photography, I think I took some pretty decent shots, hehe~
I admit that there was a bit of a learning curve. I had to do a lot of tinkering with the buttons and dials, and even then, I don’t think I had enough time to get to know the X-E5 fully. But even so, I’ve already learned a lot, I know the features it can offer, and I’m sure that it will produce amazing photos and videos in the hands of someone who’s really into the art (whether professional or enthusiast).
The Fujifilm X-E5 is now available in all Fujifilm Authorized Stores in the Philippines. You can learn more about the camera on the official website. Thanks for reading, hehe! 🙂
