BlizzCon 2026 just opened its doors for the first time since 2023, and the opening ceremony was packed with exciting news. Here’s what I’m most hyped about, and a quick rundown about each of them!
Warcraft and World of Warcraft Announcements
- WoW Forever is Classic+
- Launching November 4, 2026, World of Warcraft Forever is set in Year One of Vanilla Wow, has a level 60 cap, and is described “as a new permanent home that never ends,” living alongside modern WoW and Classic.
- The beta starts September 17, with the lineup including three new zones, over 1,000 new quests, nine new dungeons, two raids, a new battleground, and a new playable race, the Skyborne Elves.
- WoW Midnight: Eclipse is the final major patch of the expansion
- A new cinematic for World of Warcraft Midnight: Eclipse shows Xal’atath ripping open the doors to Azeroth’s World Soul and sending her void armies through, closing out her storyline.
- Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom is out right now
- The first new Warcraft III campaign in over 20 years, the new content covers the Fall of Lordaeron. It features Arthas and Sylvanas in key roles, 30+ hours of gameplay, and a new neutral hero, the Forsaken Paladin.
- The campaign is paid DLC, but the graphics overhaul is free.
Warcraft is LIVING this year and next year, man. I’m highly tempted to get into World of Warcraft Forever just because the MMO is near and dear to my heart.
Diablo News at BlizzCon 2026
- Diablo V is official for Spring 2029
- Set 100 years after Mephisto’s defeat in Lord of Hatred, the fifth title in the franchise brings players into a Sanctuary where Diablo has already won.
- Diablo IV’s New Season, Class, and Switch 2 Edition
- Diablo IV’s Season of Hell’s Legacy starts September 15. In this new season, Deckard Cain returns to Sanctuary to lead the fight against Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto. You can also expect to see plus legacy items like the Stone of Jordan and In Geom.
- We’re getting a new class in the game. The Amazon arrives as a separate class pack in the first half of 2027, bringing the Javelin weapon type with her.
- Finally, the Age of Hatred collection hits Nintendo Switch 2, bundling the base game with both expansions in one package.
- Diablo x Netflix animated series is in the works
- Nothing much on this end yet, but Overwatch and Warcraft adaptations are also being teased.
StarCraft Returns in 2030 as Open-World Shooter
Not a lot of info on this piece of news, but StarCraft returns in 2030. This time, as an open-world shooter. We get a new cinematic titled “Dominion,” where we see Terran forces trained as elite warriors before a brutal Zerg assault.
There’s still a long time before the release date, so fingers-crossed everything runs smoothly and we actually see this game launch. XD
We’ve got other news like a new hero in Overwatch called Doctrine, hero reworks for the franchise and all that. But anything Diablo or World of Warcraft really tickles my ears.
