Gamescom 2026’s Opening Night Live this year was pretty incredible. All the big name devs and publishers pulled out all the stops.
So, here’s some of the news and announcements that I need to talk about! 🙂
New Final Fantasy VII Revelation Trailer Features the Weapons
Everyone is anticipating the final part of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, and Square Enix did not disappoint this gamescom 2026. We’ve got a new trailer featuring the massive Weapons in the game. Here’s what you can expect from part 3:
- Epic Weapon battles: Face massive Weapons across varied environments—including deserts, aerial combat and underwater encounters—with some returning as challenging endgame battles inspired by the original Final Fantasy VII.
- Open-world exploration: Freely explore the entire planet aboard the Highwind, with parachuting, grappling hooks and Chocobo mounts enabling seamless travel between air and land.
- New character customization: The FITS system adds specialized outfits that grant unique abilities and power boosts, including Warrior and Black Mage roles for Cloud and Tifa.
- Expanded hybrid combat: Switch between real-time action and Tactical Mode, with new playable characters and abilities adding greater strategic depth.
- Player-driven journey: Choose where to travel, whom to help and the order of objectives, with decisions capable of influencing aspects of characters’ stories as the party races to stop Meteor and Sephiroth.
No solid release date yet for the game, but we’re looking to see it launch by Spring 2027. That’s pretty soon! O.O
CD Projekt Red Confirms The Witcher 3 Remaster and Diablo IV Collab
During gamescom 2026, CD Project Red just announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will have a remastered version to be released across all platforms on September 29, 2026. All platforms include Battle.net and will also be joined by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past in 2027.
To celebrate the collaboration, players who pre-purchase or purchase Songs of the Past on Battle.net when available will receive a Geralt-themed skin they can equip in Diablo IV. More details will be discussed during this year’s BlizzCon! You can find out more via the official website.
Capcom Preps for Onimusha: Way of the Sword Launch, Reveals Mega Man: Dual Override Gameplay
I am a bit miffed that we didn’t get anything new about Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance this gamescom 2026. But Capcom did have a couple of notable announcements.
The dev showcased an expanded demo trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which is launching on September 4, 2026. The demo is also now available on the Nintendo Switch 2 and Microsoft Store.
Capcom also unveiled a gameplay trailer for its upcoming platformer title, Mega Man Dual Override. Releasing across most platforms, the game is expected to launch within 2027. The gameplay trailer had the following key highlights:
- Proto Man returns as a playable character, offering a distinct playstyle and abilities alongside Mega Man.
- New Override system temporarily boosts robot capabilities but causes a short performance penalty afterward, adding strategic risk/reward.
- Custom Chips enable deeper personalization, letting players modify Mega Man and Proto Man with abilities such as rapid-fire, shields, and hovering.
- Eight new Robot Masters, including Twinkle Girl, introduce new themed attacks and special weapons that can be acquired from defeated bosses.
- Strategic weapon management and classic callbacks: Special weapons consume energy, while the possible return of Astro Man teases appearances from classic Robot Masters.
Path of Exile 2 1.0 Releases December 2026
Finally, ever since I first found out about Path of Exile 2 last Tokyo Game Show 2024, we have a release date for 1.0! During gamescom 2026, Grinding Gear Games revealed that the game is launching its full version on December 11, 2026 (PST).
What to expect? First of all, it’s going to be free-to-play. Second, the final two acts of the story will be added, rendering the main campaign complete. And lastly, the Duelist class is also making a comeback. It’s PoE 2’s first sword-wielding class, so that in itself is already enough incentive for ARPG gamers out there.

HoYoverse Reveals Co-Op Action Game Nodusfull, Petit Planet Winter 2026 Launch Date
Probably one of the biggest announcements of the night is HoYoverse’s Nodusfull. It’s a co-op action game that features a multi-mythological setting and realistic visuals. Here are the key features of the game:
- Mythology-inspired fantasy world: A self-contained world blending Eastern and Western mythologies, featuring legendary creatures, dragons, and regions with unique ecologies, cultures, and histories.
- Original corruption-driven narrative: Players take on the role of divine “Weavers” tasked with fighting the Dreadnodi, corrupted creatures, and restoring balance to a world devastated by their arrival.
- Squad-based tactical combat: Players form teams to battle powerful mythical creatures, with encounters emphasizing teamwork, adaptability, and exploiting enemy weaknesses.
- Deep build customization: Different Styles and Skills can be combined to create varied character builds and tactical approaches suited to different combat situations.
- Progression through victories: Defeating powerful enemies provides resources to unlock new Skills and weapons, expanding builds and giving players greater tactical flexibility.

The company’s galactic-themed cozy sim Petit Planet is finally getting a release time frame – Winter 2026! I was able to play a preview version early this year, and I am extremely stoked to get back into it again.
HoYoverse also announced that pre-registration is already available on the official website. Petit Planet will launch on PC, iOS, and Android. I can’t wait!
Monster Hunter Outlanders Reveals New Elder Dragon
I hope you didn’t think that I was gonna end this feature without any form of Monster Hunter news, LOL. TiMi Studio revealed a trailer featuring a new Elder Dragon coming to Monster Hunter Outlanders.
The monster is original to the mobile game and is named Ruger Aidal. Pre-registration for Monster Hunter Outlanders is already open and has a rumored release date of December 2026. Not official, okay, so take it with a grain of salt! 🙂
