DreamWorks Animation’s Forgotten Island is now showing in theaters nationwide. The production company has revealed that it has collaborated with Lenovo to help bring the great, big Filipino story to the big screen.
The Lenovo Technology Behind DreamWorks’ Forgotten Island
In 2025, DreamWorks Animation expanded its relationship with Lenovo by naming the company its preferred compute services, workstation, and solutions provider.
The collaboration brings together Lenovo workstations, high-performance computing infrastructure, data center technology, and services to support the demands of modern animation production.
DreamWorks has used Lenovo high-performance workstations across its workflows, while Lenovo infrastructure has covered the large-scale computing needed to build animated worlds and characters.
“Every animated film begins with artists and storytellers, but bringing their ideas to the screen also requires a technology foundation capable of keeping pace with their imagination,” said Kate Swanborg, SVP, Technology Communications and Strategic Alliances, DreamWorks Animation.
For Lenovo Philippines, the film also shows how technology stays behind the scenes of the creative process, giving creators the tools to turn ideas rooted in their own experiences into work that reaches audiences far beyond their home market.
“Forgotten Island is particularly meaningful for us in the Philippines because it shows how a story deeply inspired by Filipino culture can connect with audiences on a global scale,” said Michael Ngan, President and General Manager of Lenovo Philippines.
For those unfamiliar, Forgotten Island follows lifelong best friends Jo and Raissa, voiced by Grammy and Academy Award winner H.E.R. and Filipino actress Liza Soberano.
They prepare to take different paths after high school and unexpectedly find themselves transported to Nakali, a fantastical island populated by magical and mythological creatures rooted in the stories of their Filipino families.
