Lenovo Legion R24e Monitor – Unboxing & First Impressions

LORDNINE OBT Ad OMGluie

My unboxing and first impressions posts are really sporadic, right? Haha! Today, I’m doing one for the Lenovo Legion R24e monitor, and it’s my first time doing so. So, be gentle with me! Anyway, let’s get to it! 🙂

Lenovo Legion R24e Monitor – Specs, Pricing, & Availability

Lenovo Legion R24e Price Specs

Lenovo Legion Philippines was kind enough to lend me the Lenovo Legion R24e, an FHD IPS display monitor, to test out for a few weeks. Before we get into the details, here are the specs of the screen:

Panel Size: 23.8-inch, 534.8 mm x 308.2 mm Screen
Panel Type: In-Plane Switching
Aspect Ratio: 16:19
Resolution: 1920 x 1070
Refresh Rate: 48 Hz – 180 Hz
Response Time: 0.5 ms (MPRT), 1 ms (Extreme Mode), 5 ms (Normal Mode)
Connectivity Ports: 1 x HDMI 2.1 TMDS, 1 x DP 1.4 (HBR2), 1 x Audio Out (3.5 mm)
Power Consumption: 16.6W Typ / 24W Max, 0.3W Sleep, 0.5W Power Off
Bezel Color: Raven Black

According to retailers, the monitor’s regular price is Php 9,195. Considering I bought my main display at around Php 18k for a 27″ screen, I’m not surprised by the price of the Lenovo Legion R24e.

I’m not sure if it’s still available via the official Lenovo Legion website, however, you can probably still purchase it via authorized retailers like GameOne or Datablitz. 🙂

Packaging & Features

Lenovo Legion R24e Unboxing

As with most of my Lenovo Legion experiences, the monitor’s packaging is straightforward and simple.

Nothing fancy, you get a box that contains the disassembled stand, the power cable, the 2.0 HDMI cable, and documentation. Underneath, you’ll find the screen itself with a protective cover.

I like that everything is easy to assemble. You just snap the monitor stand pieces into place, and you can use your fingers to screw the monitor in. It has 100 x 100m VESA mount compatibility, so if you prefer mounting it on a monitor arm, you can do so, too!

There is also a slot at the back of the stand for simple cable management, which is standard but always nice to note and have. 🙂

Almost Bezel-less Viewing

Lenovo Legion R24e Edgeless

What impressed me the most was the almost edgeless viewing experience with the Lenovo Legion R24e. The top and side bezels measure only 2.6 mm, thinner than my personal monitor.

In this sense, it offers more screen space, perfect for playing games, watching videos or shows online, and even for productivity tasks. So even if the monitor’s base screen size isn’t that big, what you see is still pretty good.

Lenovo Legion R24e Fantasy Life

It’s been helpful as a secondary monitor because I can view different programs like Discord and Slack on this one screen, while doing my main tasks on my bigger personal monitor. Super convenient ~

Flexible Speed for Sharper Gaming

Lenovo Legion R24e Edgeless

The Lenovo Legion R24e boasts flexible refresh rates from 48 Hz to 180 Hz and supports AMD FreeSync™ technology for sharper, tear-free gaming.

Since I don’t play fast-paced or competitive games, I didn’t really get to test the monitor out to its max refresh rate. I normally stick to 60 Hz to 120 Hz for games that I’ve been playing like Hades 2, Fantasy Life i, or Dune Awakening. And so far, I have no complaints.

It is nice to have these refresh rate options for those who need them, though!

A Customizable Experience

Lenovo Legion R24e Legion Go S

The Lenovo Legion R24e monitor comes with a full-function ergo stand. While I was playing around with the setup, it was easy to move the monitor according to my viewing preference. You can lift it up or down to change the height, switch to vertical or horizontal orientation, and swivel or pivot to accommodate preferred viewing angles. This makes it an easy addition to any current desk setup!

Lenovo Legion R24e DP HDMI Source

The monitor also has two connectivity sources (HDMI and DP), and with gaming console support, it was easy to switch between my PC and portable handhelds (either the Lenovo Legion Go S or Steam Deck). I personally prefer monitors that allow multiple input sources, because they’re just super convenient LOL.

Lenovo Legion R24e Monitor – First Impressions & Gaming Experience

Lenovo Legion R24e Dune Awakening

I’m sure that for people who play competitive games for a living, who are used to higher refresh rates and can tell the difference, it would be easier for them to share a more detailed, technical review of this monitor. But unfortunately, that’s not me, LOL.

What I can say, though, is that I truly enjoyed my time with the Lenovo Legion R24e. It was easy to set up, I could maneuver it on my desk however I wanted, and I didn’t encounter any problems using it while gaming. Even if I used it more for productivity than entertainment, it did its job as a secondary monitor very well.

Lenovo Legion R24e Monitor Review

I’m a little miffed about the length and size of the monitor stand legs, but this can easily be remedied by using a monitor arm instead to save space. AND it does not come in WHITE! You all know that I’m a sucker for white peripherals (my whole desk set-up is primarily white, HAHA), but ALAS, the Lenovo Legion R24e only comes in the Raven Black colorway.

I’ve been on the market for a secondary monitor for a while now, and honestly, if this had a white version, it would have been a very easy buy. But if you’re looking for a decent monitor, with the above features, that is within this price range, you might want to add the Lenovo Legion R24e to your shopping list.

Until next time, bye! 🙂
