It’s been a year since the release of Monster Hunter Wilds, and Capcom is celebrating with a massive content update this month, in-game events, and a surprise teaser about an upcoming expansion.
Man, is it time to reinstall the game???
Happy First Anniversary to Monster Hunter Wilds!
I can’t believe it’s been a year since Monster Hunter Wilds launched across all platforms. It was one of my most anticipated games in 2025, which was the main reason we flew to Tokyo Game Show back in 2024. Yes, just to try the demo out, LOL. And why I finally decided to build a budget gaming PC. Haha!
Anyway, Capcom announced that Free Title Update Ver. 1.041 to celebrate the anniversary will be released this month on February 18, 2026. Additional content includes the following:
- Arch-Tempered Arkveld
- 10-star Arch-Tempered Monsters
- Monster Hunter Stories 3 Special Collaboration
- Design Contest Weapon & Pendant
- Anniversary Event + Event Quests
A few more updates will still be coming after the Feb. 18 one, so there are still some things to look forward to until more information about the teased expansion is revealed.
An Expansion this Summer 2026?!
During the recent livestream, MH Wilds producer Tsujimoto Ryozo shared that an expansion is in the works. He said that it will likely be the same scale as World’s Iceborne and Rise’s Sunbreak!
Though it’s not new for a MonHun title to have an expansion, it was still a pleasant confirmation, especially after all the hiccups the game has had throughout the year.
We can expect our first reveals about the expansion in Summer 2026, maaaaybee just in time for Summer Games Fest? Who knows!

I played Monster Hunter Wilds on Day 1, and I haven’t touched it since 2025. It’s a bit sad, but you know, life gets in the way. Plus, there were many issues with PC optimization, making it hard to play for anyone with a lower-spec PC.
Now that the PC issues are slowly getting resolved, I’m wondering if it’s time to head back into the hunt. I haven’t faced off with the Gore Magala yet, and I haven’t played through any of the festivals or events. As a MonHun girlie, I am very disappointed in myself.
BUT. The game will always be there, and my not playing it for a while or as often as I would like does not diminish my love for the series. So, in the wise words of every hunter out there, to those diving deep into Monster Hunter Wilds every day or once every blue moon – HAPPY HUNTING! <3
