Many different games were showcased at Tokyo Game Show 2024, and even if we wanted to try them all out, we could only play a handful of them.
I just wanted to share my experience each demo we got to try out, especially since some of them are releasing soon! 🙂
Monster Hunter Wilds at Tokyo Game Show 2024
Definitely, one of the best demos we played at Tokyo Game Show 2024 was CAPCOM’s Monster Hunter Wilds.
Dude, the excitement is real. My short video can’t express how amazing it was to go through a playable demo of one of my most anticipated games of 2025!
Though I struggled with the controls and the Japanese UI, the demo felt fluid and seamless. The fights are still as tough as nails (as most Monster Hunter games would be), but the challenge is always welcome and builds up anticipation for the game’s launch next year. XD
Level 5’s Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time
I wish more people would not sleep on Level 5 and its Fantasy Life series. I’ve been a fan since the 3DS title, and seeing it on a next-gen platform brings tears to my eyes.
Admittedly, the demo still lacks some luster, has clunkiness, and suffers from button delays. But with a 2025 release, hopefully, Level 5 does a banging job at finessing the game so that it’s spick and span for the launch!
Metaphor: ReFantazio at Tokyo Game Show 2024
I wasn’t expecting to play the demo of Metaphor: ReFantazio during Tokyo Game Show 2024, just because we were so busy and there were too many people!
Fortunately, we went early on a public day to line up for the demo. I played the exploration mode and got a taste of the RPG’s social interaction features, which was a lot to take in.
I’m glad there’s a longer demo available, which probably has more content than the one in TGS. Anyway, SEGA Atlus’s Metaphor: ReFantazio launches October 11, 2024 worldwide!
Phantom Blade Zero
Though not my normal fare when it comes to games, Phantom Blade Zero was an interesting demo that we got to try at Tokyo Game Show 2024. We were invited via the event’s Press Matching System, and we were able to get a slot to check out the game.
It’s an action RPG, and the demo plays like a Soulsborne title. Movement has to be calculated but very reactive. The bosses were kind of difficult, and I almost gave up. But guess what? I defeated them all! Wahoo!
There is no news on the platform or release date yet, so hopefully, we get some details soon. 🙂
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves
Another title that isn’t generally on my radar, SNK’s Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves invited us to try out the upcoming fighting game at their booth.
My partner was the one who seemed to enjoy it the most, and I mostly got the crap beat out of me by him and the computer, LOL. The fighting game will be released next year on April 24, 2025!
Anyway, that’s all we really got our hands into. I wish we had tried out other titles, too, but we couldn’t due to the lack of time and energy. HAHAHUHU. Do you have any favorite demos? Lemme know!!!
