Tokyo Game Show 2025 Demo Round-Up: So Many Games Played!

I finally finished all the video content for Tokyo Game Show 2025, hooray! To celebrate the wrap-up, here’s a breakdown of all the games and demos we were able to experience during the event!

Two Monster Hunter Titles at Tokyo Game Show 2025

During TGS 2025, we got to play two Monster Hunter demos! The first was Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection.

Although the event demo was very short, I still got to experience a bit of combat and map exploration. I’m looking forward to trying out the full demo when I have the time. I heard progress will cross over when the game fully launches on March 13, 2026.

One of the games I was most excited to try during Tokyo Game Show 2025 was Monster Hunter Outlanders. It’s been a while since I’ve played a mobile MH game and you can tell by the video I created just how hyped I am about it.

Though some of the mechanics aren’t stereotypical in a Monster Hunter game like crafting, the combat system is still essentially the same. The closed beta ended early December and was limited to US and Japan, so I didn’t get to join. 🙁 But hopefully we get more info and an actual release time frame soon!

Two Final Fantasy Games!

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles launched on September 30, 2025, and we got to play the game demo a few days before the release date.

It was mindblowing that the remaster had fully voiced cutscenes, bringing characters we’ve known for decades to life. Unfortunately, I don’t remember too much about the OG game to notice what was improved or updated in the remaster, haha!

Another Final Fantasy demo we tried out was for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of FF7 Remake: Intergrade. I gotta say, for a very slim handheld device, the gameplay was fluid and seamless, barely had issues with heat, and didn’t seem to have any frame drops! The game is slated for release on January 22, 2026.

Phantom Blade Zero at Tokyo Game Show 2025

Although it’s not my typical fare of games, Phantom Blade Zero is near and dear to my heart simply because it was one of the few demos we tried at the 2024 Tokyo Game Show. Fast forward to a year later, the team showcased an excellent upgrade that makes me want to purchase the title on Day One.

Combat was exciting and beautiful. Boss fights were challenging but satisfying. The environment is both mysterious and gorgeous. I can’t say much about the plot because I don’t know a lot about it, but I hope that’s one of the things they put effort into. Phantom Blade Zero launches on PlayStation and PC by September 9, 2026.

Extraction Shooter Exoborne

I’m not an extraction shooter girlie, but Tokyo Game Show is one of the best places to step out of your comfort zone and try out new game genres, haha!

Sharkmob’s Exoborne is another upcoming extraction shooter title that we got to try out on PC. The game’s unique selling point is its distinctive use of weather and nature effects to transport you and your team around the map. There’s a mix of AI enemies and human players to fight against, so the gameplay can be very dynamic.

There’s no release date but it seems it’ll be playable on most gaming platforms. 🙂

Path of Exile 2’s Boss Rush Challenge

Last but not least is the nerve-wracking Path of Exile 2 Boss Rush challenge! This one was a bit tough because you gotta complete the challenge in a limited amount of time.

Obviously I didn’t make the leaderboards because I didn’t use my personal account and I haven’t played the game in MONTHS (LOL, excuses). But I had a lot fun facing off with new bosses in new maps. So if you get a chance to go to a gaming event that’s hosting a PoE 2 Boss Rush challenge, be sure to check it out.

And that’s that. I think we got to try more games this year than last year, and hopefully more in 2026. I’ve got things booked already! Whee!
