What to Play this January 2026 and Why

A lot of games are launching this January, and even though more than half the month has already passed, we still have some titles to look forward to!

Here are my January 2026 recommendations and why you should check them out!

1. Arknights Endfield Releases January 22, 2026

It’s the official launch day of Arknights Endfield, and I’ve already started my journey into Talos-II. I played a lot of the mobile title a few years back, and though I am hesitant to start a new gacha game, I can’t resist the call of familiar visuals and characters.

Beyond the gacha rolling, the game features exploration, team combat (yes, it’s an action RPG), base building, and resource management. The game has already been released, and after an hour or so, I’m finding it a bit hard to tear myself away. But that’s the beauty of a new game, right? Always something new to discover. HAHA!

You might want to check out Arknights Endfield if you:

  • Like action-RPGs
  • Are willing to F2P or have extra funds for gacha rolling
  • Enjoy base building and resource management

2. Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaven DLC

Another release that I’ve been waiting for a while now is the DLC of the roguelite game Cult of the Lamb. I played the OG right after it came out, and back then, I thought that replayability was a problem.

Enter 2026, and I’ve been going back to this game on and off again whenever I get that roguelite itch. The devs are adding new features in the Woodhaven DLC, including new dungeons, a new weather system, ranching, and more.

I thought that the whole cult member marriage and breeding was a lot, I can’t imagine the madness when you have to start managing livestock, too. I can’t wait to dive in!

You might want to check out Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaven if you:

  • Played the OG Cult of the Lamb game and still want more
  • Enjoy morbid comedy
  • Like base building, resource management, and roguelite dungeon crawling gameplay

3. Final Fantasy Remake Intergrade on the Nintendo Switch 2

Another game releasing January 22, 2026 is Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. I know, I know, not another Final Fantasy VII game, right? But this time you can play it on your Nintendo Switch 2! YAS.

I got to play the demo during Tokyo Game Show 2025, and though I’m not that into the new gameplay, I was impressed by its performance on the handheld.

You might want to check out FFVII Remake Intergrade if you:

  • Have a Nintendo Switch 2
  • Never played this game before, and don’t have a copy of it on any other platform
  • Want to know what the Final Fantasy VII fuss is about
  • Enjoy a good RPG storyline with action-packed battles

4. Cozy Games Launched this January

Two cozy games that launched this January stood out to me – Cozy Caravan and Heartopia. They’re different, but both give off those cozy vibes.

Heartopia is a slow life simulation title. Players can explore, farm, fish, dress up their characters, and even connect with friends. All this can be done in a small cozy town.

Check out Heartopia if you:

  • Have a regular group of friends to play cozy games with
  • Enjoy cutesy visuals
  • Like slow cozy life sim features

On the other hand, Cozy Caravan lets you take the reins of a caravan owner, where you make meals and sell wares to townsfolk that you meet in your adventures.

Check out Cozy Caravan if you:

  • Like playing as a cute animal
  • Prefer more crafting and selling than farming or fishing
  • Enjoy talking to NPCs

So, these are my recos for January 2026. I hope that February has some interesting titles to offer, too! Let me know if you decide to pick up any of these title, until next time. <3
